Survey shows strong public support for legal action on behalf of animals
As a new organization with limited resources, Animal Partisan strives to make informed decisions that will maximize our benefit to animals used in agriculture and research. As such, we are committed to using data and available research to drive our efforts. Recently, we conducted a brief, non-scientific survey of 200 United States residents over the age of 18 that was aimed at assessing public perceptions on a variety of topics, including the value of lawsuits and undercover investigations, as well as the type of messages that do and do not drive changes in behavior.
While the survey only provides directional results and was not conducted with exhaustive scientific rigor, the information is nonetheless valuable.
Key findings include:
75% of respondents agree that lawsuits are a valuable tool to help reduce the suffering of animals in agriculture and research
78.5% of respondents agree that undercover investigations are a valuable tool to reduce the suffering of animals in agriculture and research
53.5% of respondents indicated they would completely discontinue purchasing a product if shown evidence of animal abuse and 48% said they would tell others what they saw
63% of respondents said that undercover videos of animal abuse were most likely to cause them to change behaviors to help animals
