Values

Duty

We recognize that for most animals in our society, existence is hard. We acknowledge that the fight ahead is long. Yet we remain resolute in the belief that it is our duty to challenge the systems of exploitation and seek to alleviate animal suffering.

Urgency

We celebrate that the animal rights movement has achieved significant victories over the past several decades. However, we believe that animals suffer more now than ever before. We will work with an urgency commensurate to the suffering they endure.

Gritty

Despite the enormity of the challenge and the disparity of resources arrayed against us, we will eagerly challenge the industries of animal exploitation in a manner that is tenacious and unwavering.

Innovative

We believe that our vast legal system holds untapped means to reduce animal suffering. We will explore the system eagerly, creatively, and exhaustively to identify and develop new avenues for legal advocacy on behalf of animals.

Nimble

We will value every dollar donated and recognize that each is an opportunity to benefit animals. We endeavor to operate efficiently with a constant focus on tangible and meaningful outcomes from our work.

Collaborative

We understand that animal exploitation will end only through the collective efforts of many. We strive to collaborate positively and regularly with other organizations—including animal rights and beyond—and celebrate others’ successes, regardless of the value derived for ourselves.

Transparent

We believe that relationships are built on trust and that trust is built on transparency. We will operate in a manner that is open, candid, and honest.

Grounded

We understand the critical role of grassroots advocacy and honor the role of activists as an integral part of our collective movement. We strive to support, complement, and celebrate activists.

Empowering

We believe that law students possess the capacity to change the world for animals and that barriers to obtaining knowledge, education, experience, and careers as animal law attorneys significantly impede the overall progress of the movement. We aim to create opportunities for law students and attorneys interested in animal law and amplify the impact of our organization.
